Therapeutic Milieu
Omi
“Water,” translated as /O-mi/ in the Yoruba language, has the unique ability to wash off and remove muddy stains from surfaces.
Omi offers a nature-based milieu that approaches “concerning behaviors" from the lens of “muddy hands,” using “collaborative and proactive solutions” (CPS) in a 3-step process through which we enhance positive outcomes in child and youth behaviour.
Ongea
"Speak," translated as "On-gea" in the Swahili language, makes use of the bilateral dimension of communication for transformation.
By reframing “internalized negative messages,” this safe space combines CBT tools with Scriptural quotes for turning trauma into triumph and creating opportunities for healing and restoration.
Umoya
“Spirit,” translated as /u-mo-ya/ in Zulu language, is the deepest part of a person’s being and controls the quality of life being lived.
Striving towards self-fulfillment, this therapeutic environment emphasizes meaning-making and mindfulness techniques in promoting wholeness within the client’s ecosystem.
